ten types of manager you don’t want to be

Actually this blog is taken from my other blog at friendster with different title.

As you all can read the title, I hope my writing can give good impact to anyone that has position as boss in their company or organization.

I have no literature study on in this case, it is only my opinion, and some opinion from my friends.

1. “My Boss never appreciate my work”

Well, this is the first reason why many people resign from their job, even though they are paid with interesting salary. Many bosses don’t know how to appreciate their staffs or subordinates. Boss only can give order, and yell at their staff when their staff do something wrong, but never appreciate the work of their staff. Well, don’t expect much from this kind of boss. As staff, we have to understand that, this kind of boss is someone that is not happy with the good job of their staffs’ works. Don’t ever expect “You’ve done incredible job” from you boss. The best word is “Thank You”

2. “My boss always get amnesia”

I like this sentence. Many bosses don’t know that they always change their decision or mind, in the very last minutes. They will blame their staff by saying “I never said that before, it was you that didn’t listen to my word. Now you have to make it right.” Boss like this never know the staff difficulties to accommodate the last changes, the worst thing is that, this kind of boss sometime don’t know how the work is done. Anyway, if your boss is like this, you have to proud to your self, at least, you don’t have any amnesia.

3. “My boss is not stable”

This is different from the point of number four that I will explain, even though they have similarity. This type of boss, they can get angry easily only because of small thing, and after that, they can change into nice person in flash. So the question is, why this type of person get their promotion. That one, I can not answer. if you have boss like this, my suggestion is stay as far as you can from your boss , until he / she feeling good.

4.“My boss always bring his/her own problem to work”

Some people say that, female boss always bring their home problem to work, but that doesn’t mean, male boss never do this. Some bosses bring their own problem to work, that will cause the uncomfortable zone for their staff. Their staff will be afraid to ask something from their boss, because their boss could be in “Angry Status”, “Unable to decide Status”, “Up to you status”

Well, if your boss is like this, you have to have “Patience Mode” , wait for the good time.

5.“My boss never does his / her job”

I learn from my friend that, her boss only come to office 3 days / week. Don’t imagine that her boss is Chief. Because if her boss is chief or director, the reason is understandable. Actually her boss is only a manager. Do you know what the best part is ? the boss has his own activity such as playing golf, recreation, etc. this type of boss, will force you to do his/her work. And you have no reason to reject it. Anyway if he/she is your boss.  The good thing is that, your boss will be depend on you. Take advantage of this thing, ask higher salary from your boss, because you are doing his/her work as well. If your boss doesn’t want to give you higher salary, just learn as much as you can, after that quit from that company.

6.“My boss treat us like we were his/her servant or personal assistant”

Some bosses feel that they own their staff. They can give any order to their staff, even doing the most insignificant work for their boss. Such as, go to far far away mall, just to get your boss meal. Pick up her / his children, and take them to places that you’ve been ordered to (and you are not his/her driver) . Or any other work that honestly, is very very not office work. I have no suggestion at all, maybe pretend to be busy ?

7. “My boss not fair”

Some bosses treat their staff differently, even though they have same performance, same capability. This kind of boss, will always listen to the staff that close to them, and never reject any suggestion from this staff, even to unreasonable suggestion. This boss will blame other staff, for the mistake of his/her favorite staff. Suggestion : Move to another unit.

8. “My boss has no humanity”

This statement is rude. I agree with that. Some bosses has no humanity, that this boss never let you get your personal leave easily even you deserve the personal leave and important matter. Well, I believe in “what you pay is what you get.” So if your boss is like this type, don’t worry, your boss will get his/her karma.

9. “My boss always steal my ideas”

My friend once complaint to me, that her boss has no idea for new market strategy. So, my friend told her boss about the idea, almost all ideas come from my friend. After her boss get my friend idea, the boss will make the presentation to the higher level management, and told the management, that it was purely his/her idea. Not even mention the name of his/her staff. Don’t worry about this boss, time will tell the real gold is.

10. “My boss is lazy ”

this kind of boss is too lazy to learn something new, and doesnt want to take responsibility of new things.

really have no idea about this kind of boss , probably wrong recruitment.

So, maybe you agree with me or maybe not. Anyway, it is only my opinion.

As my conclusion, there is a big difference between manager and leader. manager only order and manage his / her subordinates  to find a new way of solving problem . on contrary, leader will lead their subordinates to find a new way to solve problem.
